El Pollo Guapo Expands into Hartford’s Front Street District
A few years ago, husband and wife duo Heather and Roy Riedl decided to open up a food truck inspired by Spanish-influenced cuisine. Fangirling and pretty much stalking the truck around the state in an effort to track them down, we finally got to have our first Mercado experience.
It was amazing.
Two years into their incredible journey, they decided to open up a restaurant. They named it El Pollo Guapo. We named it, some of the most addicting food you’ll ever eat. Located in Wethersfield, El Pollo Guapo quickly became known for their rotisserie chickens, stuffed rice bowls, salads and fresh sides like guac and to-die-for queso.
Now, you can only imagine how excited we were when we found out that they were opening a restaurant just blocks away from us in downtown Hartford. On December 5th, 2018 they opened their doors to the public.
Choosing to expand into their Front Street location was no coincidence. The Front Street District has been continually expanding with new businesses and restaurants over the recent years. Part of the larger Adrien’s Landing project, we have seen additions like Infinity Music Hall & Bistro, UConn Hartford, Barnes & Noble, Blind Pig Pizza Co. and more.
The couple see Hartford as their flagship restaurant, and are excited to expand out from here.
The El Pollo Guapo menu in Hartford with be very similar to that in the Wethersfield location, with items like:
- ‘Guapo Bowls’, packed with rotisserie chicken and fresh sides like grilled corn, queso fresco, pickled onion and plenty of avocado
- ‘Munchies’ like Quesadillas, Crispy Chickpeas, Guapo Nachos
- ‘Sides Chicks’ like Plantains, Sweet Potato Wedges, Cucumber Salad
… and so much more.
Heather and Roy’s biggest passion in life (besides their adorable children) has been winning over the hearts and stomachs of foodies all over the state by bringing a completely new type of cuisine to the area. Every meal is served with a smile, and we couldn’t be happier for the couples continued success.
