Celebrate Friendsgiving at Hartford’s Republic at the Linden
Friendsgiving; the night before Thanksgiving that’s specially reserved for spending time with friends, eating food, and most importantly, drinking.
OR, also known as the night you go out with all your high school friends to pre-game before Thanksgiving day.
Whichever way you look at it, this year, we’re teaming up with Republic at the Linden to be your host for Friendsgiving 2017.
Your Perfect Thanksgiving Pre-game
On November 22nd, weHartford will be teaming up with Republic in downtown Hartford to host this year’s Friendsgiving party.
Original music from Professors of Sweet Sweet Music will be playing throughout the night, while you sip on specialty Thanksgiving-inspired cocktails.
And for this night only, Republic will be releasing a special Thanksgiving-inspired menu with small eats and cocktails – like turkey burger sliders with stuffing and cranberry sauce, and ‘The Gobbler’ cocktail featuring bourbon, sweet vermouth, OJ, wild moon cranberry liqueur, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
At 9:15 PM we’ll have 4 brave souls take place in a pumpkin pie eating contest.
Think you can take on a pie faster than everyone else? Make sure you get to Republic before the crowd to sign up to be a participant. It’s a first come first serve basis so make sure you get here early to sign up!
We’ll also have adult card games scattered throughout the restaurant like Cards Against Humanity and What Do You Meme.
The party starts at 8 PM and will last all night up until close.
About Hartford’s Republic at the Linden
Owners Jared Cohen and Steven Wolf opened up their first Republic location in Bloomfield, CT. A couple years later, they decided to tackle another location – only this time, in downtown Hartford.
But Jared and Steven were hesitant about opening the new location, the building space was vacant for quite some time, and the two went back and forth about whether they wanted to commit and move in.
Then they started hearing about UConn, the ballpark, and new Hartford apartments and figured it was a “now or never kinda situation.”
Jared and Steven knew they had a lot of work ahead of them, but a year after purchasing the building, and a year’s worth of renovations, the gastro-pub was transformed into an incredible two-story space, “it was a mess when we came into it, but we jumped in, and… here we are.”
The building’s space is so unique – from the brick interior, upside down hanging lampshades and walls lined with artwork from local Hartford artist Adam Viens, to their gastropub cocktails and menu – filled with options like the ‘Smoked Bourbon & Charcuterie’ cocktail, where they take a ten year bourbon, smoke it with hickory chips and serve it with cured meats and cheeses.
Let’s also make note of their famous $50 “HEART ATTACK” BURGER, made with kobe beef, foie gras, black truffles, brioche bread & a truffle demi-glace dipping sauce.
Another reason why we <3 Republic? Well, Jared and Steven are just two of the coolest guys in the area. When we asked Jared about his relationship with exec chef and co-owner Steven, he told us “he’s pretty much my heterosexual life partner… he’ll be the one person that’s there for me my entire life. We fight well, live well, and work well together.” – very touching, Jared.
