New Happy Hour Spot Opens in Downtown Hartford | The Press

It may have the same bones, but you’d hardly recognize the newly revamped space that used to occupy the former Black Bear Saloon. This new restaurant and bar in Downtown Hartford, The Press, now parades a newspaper themed speakeasy interior, with classic prohibition cocktails and uniquely “pressed” foods.

Surrounding the establishment hangs large prints of old Hartford newspaper headlines, showing the busting life in Hartford and a truly unique decor.

Look close enough, and you’ll start to see that this “press” theme makes a repeat appearance. On the bar stand copper presses to press fresh juice used in cocktails, and on the menu, you’ll find a variety of pressed sandwiches.

And if it’s one thing that this bar should be recognized for, it’s their craft cocktails; each made with fresh ingredients and presented in truly unique ways.

Served in beautiful vintage-style glasses, atop each drink rests a little surprise. Order the bourbon drink and you’ll be guaranteed to receive a little airplane made out of newspaper.

The Press hosts a large space with plenty of seating and two full bars, making this spot a great venue for large parties and after work get togethers.

Location, location, location! For those not familiar with the area, The Press is located right next to two large parking lots, making it easy to access.

And to top if off, The Press offers lots of great deals throughout the week, like 25% off for ladies on Friday nights. Be sure to check out their Facebook page here for their list of events.
